Bukit gelugor: UMNO members need to maintain unity and loyalty to the party ahead of the 16th general election (GE16) that will determine the political future of the country, UMNO vice-president Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin stated. Unity and loyalty to the party when faced with current challenges form the core to rejuvenating UMNO so that the party can be strong as it was previously, he added.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohamed Khaled emphasized the importance of ensuring that party members are always in a position to maintain unity and prioritize the welfare of UMNO. He addressed these points during his speech at the Bukit Gelugor UMNO Division delegates’ meeting. He also reminded members to accept the reality that no political party could be dominant on its own as before, highlighting the need for UMNO to secure robust support from its coalition partners in Barisan Nasional (BN) to face GE16.

Meanwhile, in Kota Tinggi, Johor, UMNO Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid emphasized the need for party members to not be complacent but to work diligently to defend all seats won in the last general election and to reclaim seats from rivals. Mahdzir stressed the importance of effort and strategy in achieving electoral victory, urging members to ensure that existing Parliament and state seats remain under UMNO’s control while looking for opportunities to gain additional seats.

Mahdzir also cautioned UMNO members and supporters against being misled by fake news and slander, advising them to rely on facts and seek truth in the challenging political landscape. He identified the spread of slanderous news as a significant challenge that could undermine public confidence in UMNO leadership.
