Kuala Lumpur:Local institutions have continued their net buying trend on Bursa Malaysia for two consecutive weeks with net inflows amounting to RM352.4 million last week.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, MBSB Investment Bank Bhd (MBSB IB) reported that retailers also maintained their net buying pattern, achieving a sixth consecutive week of net inflows totaling RM447.5 million.
Conversely, foreign institutions were net sellers for the second week in a row, with RM799.9 million in net outflows. MBSB IB's weekly fund flow report highlighted that foreign institutions were net sellers on all five trading days, with the most significant outflow of RM228.4 million occurring on Wednesday. This was followed by outflows of RM187.9 million on Thursday, RM172.4 million on Tuesday, RM142.1 million on Monday, and RM69.1 million on Friday.
The report also identified the top three sectors with net inflows from foreign institutions: technology at RM131.0 million, energy at RM93.2 million, and construction at RM78.4 million. In contrast, the sectors that experienced the largest net foreign outflows were financial services at RM460.6 million, utilities at RM339.8 million, and healthcare at RM163.1 million.
Additionally, MBSB IB noted changes in the total average daily trading volume (ADTV), which increased overall. The average daily trading volume for retail investors rose by 3.7 percent, for foreign institutions by 8.6 percent, while it decreased by 7.9 percent for local institutions.
