Perak: More than 1,000 series of 'Jualan Sejahtera Rakyat Ikan Murah', a fish cheap sale programme, will be organised by the Malaysian Fisheries Development Board (LKIM) in the state this year. State Rural Development, Plantation, Agriculture and Food Industry Committee chairman Datuk Mohd Zolkafly Harun announced that a variety of fish species would be offered based on local demand at prices between 20 and 40 per cent lower than the current market price.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, examples of the discounted prices include mackerel, which is sold at RM13.60 per kilogramme compared to the market price of RM17 per kg, and jenahak fish at RM36 per kg compared to the market price of RM45 per kg. The sales series programme will be carried out using various methods like selling under tents, tricycles, and moving lorries, three times a week at selected locations.
Mohd Zolkafly mentioned at a press conference, also attended by Perak LKIM director Ahmad Zulkifli Ismail at the Perak Darul Ridzuan Building, that the public can seek further information on the programme by visiting LKIM Perak's official Facebook page. He also encouraged entrepreneurs interested in joining the initiative to participate.
