Genting highlands: Lingkaran Cekap Sdn Bhd (LCSB), the authorized operator of the Genting Highlands road network, has announced the implementation of road charges in two phases, starting May 28 and June 28, 2026.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, LCSB stated that road users, except those in exempted categories, will be required to pay the road charge upon entry into Jalan Genting Highlands starting May 28. The charges will be collected at the Genting Highlands Entry at Genting Sempah and the Gohtong Jaya Entry at the Gohtong Jaya roundabout.
Under the new road charge structure, Class 1 vehicles, including cars and vans, will be charged RM5 at both entry points. Medium lorries classified as Class 2 will pay RM15, while heavy lorries under Class 3 will be charged RM25 at both entry locations. Taxis, categorized as Class 4, will incur a fee of RM3.30, and buses, under Class 5, will be charged RM5. Vehicles in Classes 2, 3, 4, and 5 are required to use the 'Lorong Khas' lanes or license plate recognition (LPR) system.
Emergency vehicles, motorcycles, and private vehicles of public servants working at identified government institutions in Genting Highlands will be exempt from these charges, according to LCSB.
Additionally, from June 28, 2026, LCSB will register up to two Class 1 vehicles for eligible permanent residents of Genting Highlands. These registered vehicles will benefit from a preferential rate, 10 percent lower than the standard rate per entry, when using the LPR Lanes/Lorong Khas, and will not incur any charges before this date.
LCSB will also introduce a six-month season pass scheme for registered permanent residents, allowing unlimited entries into Jalan Genting Highlands throughout its validity period via LPR Lanes or Lorong Khas. Interested residents can apply for the season pass and make the necessary payment, offering enhanced convenience and cost savings.
