Labuan:Most areas on this duty-free island have been facing water supply disruptions due to repair work on a raw water pump at the Lawa Gadong Water Treatment Plant located in Beaufort, Sabah.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Labuan Water Supply Department director, Trinil Indah Puspita, stated that all areas are affected except the Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) District Metering Area (DMA).

The raw water pump, which serves as Labuan's primary water source, is undergoing repairs that are still in progress due to technical requirements. As of 6 pm yesterday, the work was approximately 60 percent complete. During the repair process, the technical team identified the need to dismantle the pump bearing for cleaning and further inspection.

Trinil explained that this additional procedure is necessary to ensure the repairs are conducted properly, meeting all technical needs before normal operations can resume. The plant operator is working diligently to expedite the repairs without sacrificing the quality and safety of the operation.

Further updates on the repair progress and the restoration of the water supply will be provided as needed. Trinil expressed gratitude for the patience, cooperation, and understanding of consumers affected by the water supply disruption.
