Cheras:Residents of an apartment block in Bandar Damai Perdana were ordered to evacuate their homes tonight following a landslide near the building, suspected to have been triggered by an underground water leak.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department's assistant operations director, Ashrul Riezal Asbar, stated that the operations commander on site instructed the immediate evacuation of residents near Block A of the apartment complex as a precautionary measure.

The department received an emergency call about the incident at 9:03 pm, prompting the deployment of a team of five personnel with a fire engine from Bandar Tun Hussein Onn Fire and Rescue Station. The team arrived at the scene eight minutes later to find a landslide involving a 4.57-metre-high slope.

Ashrul Riezal reported that the soil had slid approximately 0.91 metre into the collapse area. Though water was observed flowing in the area, no further soil movement was detected by the rescue team at that time.

Monitoring of the soil condition and water flow is ongoing to ensure safety at the scene. There were no casualties or injuries reported due to the incident. The Public Works Department has been informed for further action.
