KOTA KINABALU: Entrepreneurship and Cooperative Development Ministry (KUSKOP) remains committed to developing a more conducive and inclusive ecosystem for entrepreneurs, said its minister Datuk Ewon Benedick. Officiating the Shell LiveWIRE 2024 National Award Ceremony here today, he emphasized the importance of fostering innovation, improving access to funding, and enhancing ease of doing business to accelerate the growth of the country’s entrepreneurial landscape.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Datuk Ewon Benedick highlighted that initiatives like Shell LiveWIRE are crucial in aligning entrepreneurship with national goals of sustainability and inclusivity. Such programmes empower individuals to start businesses and inspire innovation, creating employment and societal progress. He noted that KUSKOP has built a holistic support system for entrepreneurs and cooperatives by promoting collaboration between government bodies, private sector entities, and community organizations to establish a robust ecosystem
that encourages resilience and adaptability.
Datuk Ewon further explained that the National Entrepreneurship Policy 2030 (NEP 2030) serves as a guiding framework to transform Malaysia into an entrepreneurial nation, ensuring that all societal segments have the opportunity to explore their entrepreneurial potential. He underscored the significance of mentorship in cultivating a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem, where seasoned entrepreneurs are responsible for mentoring and supporting the next generation. This cycle of giving back, he stated, strengthens the ecosystem and ensures sustainable growth and innovation.
Additionally, he commended Shell and other stakeholders for their role in nurturing Malaysia’s entrepreneurial talent. Datuk Ewon emphasized that creating a sustainable entrepreneurship landscape requires a collective effort from government agencies, NGOs, and corporations like Shell.
