TUMPAT: The Kelantan Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) has donated five mobile kitchens to five temporary relief centres (PPS) to facilitate the preparation of food for flood victims. Kelantan MRC chairman, Dr Seri Buana Zainuddin, announced that since the floods hit, five mobile kitchens have been distributed to various PPS, including those in Kota Bharu, Pasir Mas, Bachok, and Pasir Puteh.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the latest handover was to the PPS of Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Kubang Batang, which is currently accommodating 532 victims. Dr Seri Buana highlighted that these mobile kitchens are provided to relief centres with more than 200 victims to ensure efficient and timely food preparation. Each mobile kitchen is capable of cooking rice for 300 individuals in just 45 minutes, ensuring that the rice is cooked without crusting and minimizing waste.

The handover event at SK Kubang Batang was attended by notable figures, including the national chairman of MRC Disaster Management, Datuk Dr Mohamed Alwi Ab
dul Rahman, and Wakaf Bharu assemblyman Mohd Rusli Abdullah.

In related news, Dr Seri Buana mentioned that the Kelantan MRC is planning to request additional mobile kitchen assistance due to the unexpectedly severe floods this year compared to the previous year. He stated, “We will be requesting more allocations from the Kelantan state government to supply mobile kitchens, each set worth RM3,500.” He also emphasized that the Kelantan MRC, boasting over 200 volunteers, is committed to collaborating with various agencies, including the fire brigade, police, armed forces, and the Malaysian Civil Defence Force, to support flood victims effectively.
