Kuala Lumpur: The 2025 Ramadan Raya Buy Local campaign, which runs for two months starting March 1, aims to generate RM5 million in sales, double the RM2.5 million achieved last year. Minister of Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development Datuk Ewon Benedick stated that within just 15 days, the initiative under the MyMall digital sales platform has already recorded RM2.6 million in sales.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, this is a positive development for micro, small, and medium enterprise (PMKS) entrepreneurs in generating income and sales in conjunction with Ramadan through the online platform, MyMall. Datuk Ewon Benedick shared these insights when speaking to reporters after inaugurating the campaign at ODEON Kuala Lumpur.
Regarding MyMall, 2,857 entrepreneurs have registered on the platform, collectively generating RM10.819 million in sales since its launch in 2022. The Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development Ministry (KUSKOP) is committed to supporting the MyMall platform by offering free registration for all PKMS entrepreneurs and cooperatives, along with complimentary marketing and advertising for their products.
The ministry will continue to provide various financing schemes through its seven agencies to support entrepreneurs in need of additional capital, whether to start, sustain, or expand their businesses. Last year, the ministry disbursed RM9.577 billion in financing and grants to 333,625 SMEs and cooperative entrepreneurs.
Datuk Ewon Benedick expressed optimism for the current year, stating that with the enthusiasm and desire of entrepreneurs and cooperatives to scale their businesses and the support available from these agencies, the value can be increased further.
Meanwhile, an entrepreneur specializing in ‘sambal bilis’ and ‘daging dendeng’, Suryani Saidin, 46, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to operate a stall at ODEON Kuala Lumpur, a venue owned by UDA Holdings, an agency under KUSKOP. She highlighted the significant support KUSKOP has provided to small entrepreneurs in boosting sales and expressed hope for the continuation of such programs.
