KTMB Introduces Additional Weekend Train Services to Southern Sector

Kuala Lumpur:Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) is offering four additional ETS services on the KL Sentral-JB Sentral-KL Sentral route every weekend until December 27 to accommodate growing passenger demand in the southern sector.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, KTMB announced that these extra services will be available on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays over a span of 50 days, providing an additional 63,200 seats. Ticket sales for these services have been open since September 7.

The extra services include the EX9572 from JB Sentral at 7 am and EX9578 at 5.30 pm heading to KL Sentral, as well as the EX9573 departing KL Sentral at 9.05 am and EX9575 at 11.55 am towards JB Sentral. As of now, 46% of the tickets for these services have been sold. KTMB encourages passengers to book early, especially for weekend travel.

With these additions, the total number of ETS services on the KL Sentral-JB Sentral-KL Sentral route increases to 12, including eight existing services, resulting in a total weekend capacity of 189,600 seats.

Furthermore, KTMB is providing eight additional EMUPlus services from September 25 to 27, with Bandar Tasek Selatan and Klang Station offered as starting points for journeys to Ipoh. This service offers 2,448 seats for routes between Bandar Tasek Selatan-Ipoh-Klang and Klang-Ipoh-Bandar Tasek Selatan, and tickets have been available since September 22.

KTMB stated that these additional services are part of their efforts to enhance capacity and offer more public transport options as weekend travel demand rises, aligning with their Road to Rail aspiration. KTMB will continue to monitor demand and ticket sales to adjust service capacity as needed.

The public is advised to plan their travels and purchase tickets early through the KITS Style app, KTMB's official website, or ticket kiosks at selected stations. Passengers are also encouraged to arrive early at the station to ensure smoother boarding.
