Kuala lumpur: Chief Secretary to the Government (KSN) Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar has directed that immediate measures be taken to address several critical service issues affecting the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (PPUM).
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Shamsul Azri emphasized that safeguarding public health remains a top priority of the MADANI Government. He noted that he convened a meeting this morning to discuss the pressing concerns related to PPUM. The hospital, being a teaching institution, is expected to deliver services in line with its role, capacity, and capabilities.
In his Facebook post, Shamsul Azri stated, "I have directed that immediate action be taken on the decisions reached during the discussion." The meeting involved key stakeholders, including the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Health (MOH), the Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Malaya (UM), and the PPUM administrative team.
The discussion primarily focused on addressing policy-related issues that have arisen from public complaints. These issues include long waiting times, challenges in the delivery of clinical services, and matters related to skilled manpower and specialist expertise.
