KPKT Welcomes New Proposals for Residensi Rakyat Programme

Kuala Lumpur: The Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) remains open to new housing proposals for the Residensi Rakyat Programme (PRR) from state governments or the private sector. Deputy Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Aiman Athirah Sabu emphasized the importance of ensuring that proposed sites are suitable and strategic, with all land ownership matters resolved, whether the land is offered free or at a nominal fee.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Aiman Athirah stated that the approval for PRR projects depends on government consideration and financial status, factoring in the site assessment report. She highlighted the MADANI government’s commitment to providing access to quality and affordable housing, particularly for low-income individuals, to ensure no one is left behind in the nation’s development.

Aiman Athirah further mentioned that KPKT implements various Rumah Mampu Milik (RMM) projects aimed at the B40 and M40 groups, including the People’s Housing Programme (PPR) and PRR.

Meanwhile, she announced that the ministry, through the National Landscape Department, has allocated RM500,000 for upgrading Taman Awam Sibu in Sarawak as part of the MADANI Recreational Parks initiative. The upgrades will focus on the park’s walkways, children’s play equipment, benches, and drainage system, and are currently in the design phase.
