KPKT Implements 2,750 Development Projects in New Chinese, Indian Villages Nationwide

Kuala lumpur: The Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT), through the New Chinese Indian Villages Division (BKBCI) under the Local Government Department (JKT), has executed 2,750 development projects in Kampung Baru across the nation from 2023 to 2025. Minister of Housing and Local Government Nga Kor Ming highlighted that these projects encompass public infrastructure in 613 new villages with a budget of RM325.3 million.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, these initiatives comprise 1,786 basic facilities and infrastructure works, the renovation of 902 dilapidated housing units, the completion of 62 new houses, and the installation of more than 2,300 solar LED street lights aimed at improving convenience and safety for Kampung Baru residents. Nga shared these details during a press conference after the 'Sentuhan Kejayaan Kampung Baru' programme.

Nga further detailed an allocation of RM15 million for the development of 89 Indian Villages nationwide. This involves upgrading public infrastructure, community halls, solar lighting, drainage systems, MADANI food courts, public markets, and MADANI parks. Over the same period, JKT nationwide completed 15,802 public infrastructure projects, surpassing an annual target of 5,000 projects set by Nga in 2023.

Nga also announced the successful revival of 1,333 sick projects over the past three years, which included 34 Perbadanan PR1MA Malaysia (PR1MA) housing projects. He confidently declared the completion of all PR1MA projects nationwide, marking the end of affected projects after three years of concerted effort.

A statement from KPKT revealed that 858 development projects were implemented last year, with a total allocation of RM100.5 million. These projects included 560 basic facilities and infrastructure projects such as road and drainage upgrades, basketball courts, and community halls. Additionally, 279 low-income Kampung Baru residents benefited from house repairs, while 19 new houses were constructed under the Kampung Baru MADANI People's Housing Programme.

KPKT also implemented 11 socio-economic development programmes for new villages last year, benefiting 1,895 residents and entrepreneurs with an allocation of RM2.49 million. During his visit, Nga inspected the Kampung Baru Rimba Panjang Community Hall upgrading project, the Sungai Siput Non-Halal Public Market upgrading project, and the Kampung Baru Simpang Jalong business space.

Nga later officiated a new house under the Kampung Baru MADANI People's Housing Programme in Kampung Baru Simpang Jalong. Syarikat Perumahan Negara Berhad (SPNB), a strategic partner of KPKT, completed 19 new houses at a cost of RM1.51 million. For the current year, an allocation of RM1.8 million has been provided under the Rumah MADANI Rakyat Kampung Baru programme.
