Tasek gelugor: The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (KPKM) has announced a substantial allocation of RM700,000 for various development projects in Tasek Gelugor, focusing on community and school improvements.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, RM500,000 has been earmarked for Kampung Guar Petai under the MADANI Adopted Village (KAM) initiative. This initiative aims to enhance community wellbeing and strengthen the agricultural sector in the village. Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu highlighted the importance of a collective approach by government ministries and agencies to benefit rural communities, which he described as the backbone of national food security.
Projects in Kampung Guar Petai include road upgrades, home repairs, drainage improvements, and tree maintenance. Additionally, the local mosque received enhancements such as repainting, lighting installations, and solar-powered light poles to improve its infrastructure.
Meanwhile, Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Padang Menora has been allocated RM100,000 under the MADANI Adopted School programme. This funding will support facility upgrades, including air-conditioning for offices, a new desktop computer, and a printer. The school will also see improvements in its toilets, classrooms, and digital resources, including the addition of smart televisions and a smart board.
To further encourage youth engagement in modern agriculture, an additional RM100,000 has been allocated for the Agricultural Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme at the school. Minister Mohamad emphasized the need for development beyond urban areas, highlighting the potential for young people in the technology-driven agriculture sector.
The event also featured a community feast and the Agro MADANI Sale (JAM), offering discounts on essential goods. Agrobank contributed RM20,000 in zakat assistance, while the Department of Agriculture provided seedlings to promote household farming.
The MADANI Adopted Village and School initiatives aim to foster inclusive community development and enhance public wellbeing through collaboration between government bodies, agencies, and local communities.
