Chukai:The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) is dedicated to ensuring that initiatives outlined in Budget 2027, particularly those targeting cost of living issues and enhancing consumer protection, provide tangible benefits to the public.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the minister, Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali, expressed the ministry's support for the allocations and initiatives intended to address cost of living pressures, prevent leakages through effective enforcement measures, and bolster consumer protection efforts. He shared this sentiment on Facebook following the budget announcement.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, during the tabling of Budget 2027 in the Dewan Rakyat, revealed a government allocation of RM750 million to conduct 35,000 Rahmah MADANI and Agro MADANI Sales nationwide in the coming year. Of these, 30,000 Jualan Rahmah MADANI programmes will be organized by KPDN, while 5,000 will fall under the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security.
Armizan highlighted that the Rahmah MADANI Sales programme aims to reach rural areas, low-cost housing, and People's Housing Projects (PPR), benefiting small traders as well. Furthermore, RM1.1 billion has been allocated to strengthen enforcement agencies' operational capabilities, with tax deductions provided to donors of food and equipment to the Ihsan Food Bank from 2027 to 2030.
The government is also dedicating RM250 million to enhance the distribution of essential goods to remote areas, adding six new locations. Additionally, RM10 million will support the JOM MALAYSIA initiative, which promotes rural products and high-value services through digital and international markets.
Terengganu KPDN director Mohd Mufsi Lat emphasized that strict measures will be enforced against traders who excessively increase prices. Enforcement officers will conduct monitoring across districts in response to the announced measures aimed at alleviating the cost of living under Budget 2027. His remarks were made at the Jelajah Kasih Kembara Pengguna Bersama Komuniti Orang Asli programme in Kampung Sungai Pergam, Chukai, where 175 households from the Semaq Bari Orang Asli community received i-FB essential goods assistance worth RM8,750.
