Tanah Merah:The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) in Kelantan is currently investigating a consumer complaint regarding vehicle damage purportedly caused by RON95 petrol purchased at a local station last week.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Kelantan KPDN Director Hanif Yusabra Yusuf stated that samples of the fuel have been collected and sent to the Chemistry Department to ascertain whether there was water contamination. The results of the laboratory analysis are pending and are expected to be available soon.
Hanif Yusabra mentioned that if the analysis confirms the presence of water in the petrol, the KPDN will undertake further investigation. He urged other consumers who might have faced similar issues to report them to KPDN, enabling appropriate action. Additionally, consumers who have incurred losses can submit claims through the Tribunal for Consumer Claims Malaysia (TTPM), provided they meet the tribunal's jurisdiction and have proper evidence. TTPM handles consumer claims up to RM50,000.
In the meantime, Kelantan KPDN will maintain its efforts to monitor fuel quality and address related complaints to safeguard consumer interests.
