KPDN and Police Uncover Illegal Diesel Storage in Labuan

Labuan: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) enforcers, in collaboration with the police, seized diesel and related equipment worth RM106,570.50 after busting an illegal diesel storage activity at a house in Kampung Tanjung Aru here yesterday. Labuan KPDN director Junaidah Arbain said the raid was carried out at 9.45 am under the integrated Ops Tiris 4.0 and Ops Keberhasilan.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, an inspection at the premises led to the discovery of three Intermediate Bulk Container (IBC) tanks, each with a capacity of 1,000 litres, containing liquid believed to be diesel. The raiding team also found three electric pumps complete with hoses, a four-wheel-drive vehicle, and an additional vehicle tank believed to have been used to transfer the controlled item. The total amount of diesel found at the location was estimated at 2,870 litres.

Junaidah said no individual was found at the scene during the operation, and the premises was believed to have been used as a transit and temporary storage point before the diesel was transferred elsewhere. She stated that all seized items, including the suspected controlled item, were confiscated for further investigation under the Control of Supplies Act 1961 for suspected possession and storage of scheduled controlled goods without valid approval.

KPDN Labuan has issued a stern warning against engaging in the misappropriation of controlled goods, including storage, transfer, and sale without valid approval. The ministry emphasized its commitment to intensifying enforcement operations and expressed zero tolerance towards any individual or syndicate attempting to exploit subsidised controlled goods.
