KLCI Futures Sees Gains as Cash Market Trends Upward

Kuala lumpur: The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) futures contract on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives closed higher on Monday in line with the underlying cash market. The market saw movements in various contract months, reflecting investor optimism.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the September 2026 and October 2026 contracts both gained five points to 1,671.5. Additionally, the December 2026 contract rose by four points to 1,677.0, while the March 2027 contract advanced 1.5 points to 1,658.5. These gains indicate a positive trend and growing confidence among market participants.

The turnover for the futures eased to 5,973 lots from 7,461 on Friday, indicating a slight decrease in trading activity. Meanwhile, open interest was recorded at 45,545 contracts, down from 46,188 previously. This decline in open interest suggests some cautiousness among traders as they adjust their positions.

By the end of the trading day at 5 pm, the FBM KLCI had gained 11.27 points, closing 0.66 percent higher at 1,698.01 points compared to Friday's close of 1,686.74. This upward movement in the cash market reinforced the positive performance seen in the futures contracts, underscoring a day of gains for the market.
