Kuala lumpur: The Home Ministry (KDN) is advocating for the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) within its various agencies to enhance productivity, efficiency, and public service delivery. Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail emphasized the importance of AI in the ministry's functions, citing the 'AI for KDN, KDN for AI' approach that has been developed over the past three years. The readiness of KDN personnel to adopt AI has reportedly reached 75 percent.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Saifuddin Nasution highlighted the next phase of the initiative, which involves aiding agencies in incorporating AI into their core functions. This task falls under the leadership of each agency, which is responsible for driving the AI implementation to simplify and expedite work processes. Specific examples include the National Registration Department, Immigration, and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).
Saifuddin Nasution noted that AI's role in PDRM could involve drafting initial investigation papers, with approximately 400,000 police reports filed monthly. AI would produce initial drafts, which would then be reviewed and verified by an Inspector-level Investigating Officer before submission to the Deputy Public Prosecutor.
In addition, the ministry launched the 'AI Digital Human' initiative, aiming to facilitate public interaction with KDN using AI technology. This initiative allows inquiries in multiple languages, enhancing accessibility and user experience. Saifuddin Nasution stated, "Ask in Mandarin, Arabic, Japanese, just ask. The AI can answer all of them."
Saifuddin Nasution also mentioned that the ministry was the first to utilize AI for drafting responses to parliamentary questions, with answers verified by ministry officers before submission. AI's expansion into PDRM services includes kiosks at strategic locations like airports, enabling foreign tourists to lodge police reports in their native languages.
Furthermore, the launch included the Malaysian Volunteer Corps Department (RELA) Anti-Corruption Strategies (RACS) and the RELA Security and Operations Control Manual (MKKOR). RACS aims to maintain integrity among RELA members, while MKKOR serves as a comprehensive guide for RELA members in security operations.
He reiterated the significance of AI, encouraging its adoption and utilization to ensure the ministry remains at the forefront of technological advancements in public service delivery.
