KLCI Futures See Decline Amid Lower Turnover

Kuala lumpur: The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) futures on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives closed mostly lower, aligning with the underlying cash market's performance on Wednesday.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the December 2025 contract decreased by 4.5 points, settling at 1,674.5, while the January 2026 and March 2026 contracts each fell by 0.5 of a point to 1,682.5.5 and 1,668.0, respectively. In contrast, the June 2026 contract witnessed a rise of 1.5 points, closing at 1,670.0.

The market saw a decline in turnover to 8,442 lots from 23,676 on the previous day, with open interest also reducing to 42,817 contracts compared to 59,528 contracts on Tuesday. At 5 pm, the FBM KLCI index itself dropped by 4.42 points, closing at 1,680.11, down from 1,684.53 the day before.

Additionally, it was noted that Bursa Malaysia Bhd and its subsidiaries will be closed on Jan 1, 2026, in observance of the New Year's Day holiday.
