Kuala lumpur: The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) futures on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives ended mostly lower, contrasting with a steady performance in the cash market. The April 2026 futures contract saw a decline, erasing one point to settle at 1,719.0. Similarly, the May 2026 contract fell by 1.5 points, closing at 1,719.5. However, the June 2026 contract experienced an increase of 16 points, ending at 1,718.5, while the September 2026 contract eased by 2.5 points to finish at 1,701.0.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the turnover for the futures market decreased significantly, with 11,310 lots traded compared to 25,545 lots on the previous day. Additionally, open interest also narrowed, decreasing to 43,924 contracts from 63,112 contracts. At the close of trading at 5 pm, the FBM KLCI itself rose by 1.60 points, or 0.09 percent, reaching 1,722.02 from Wednesday's closing figure of 1,720.42.
As a reminder, Bursa Malaysia and its subsidiaries will observe the Labour Day public holiday tomorrow, resulting in a temporary cessation of operations. Trading activities are scheduled to resume on Monday, May 4.
