Klang Utara Police Dispose Of Case Items Worth RM1.6 Million

Klang: Three pistols, hundreds of sharp weapons and tens of thousands of items related to gambling, contraband, and bitcoin were among more than 34,000 case exhibits worth an estimated RM1.6 million disposed of by the Klang Utara district police headquarters (IPD) today. Klang Utara deputy police chief Supt Mohd Rahimi Zainol stated that the disposal involved 34,120 case items linked to 797 investigation papers across various crime categories, covering cases from 2017 to date, following court approval.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, among the items disposed of were exhibits linked to 2,945 gambling cases, 28,493 smuggling cases, 1,501 general goods cases, and 1,181 bitcoin-related cases, in addition to cash amounting to RM296,485.80. Most of the items were seized during investigations into serious crimes, including murder, violence, and armed robbery, Mohd Rahimi said at the Klang Utara IPD Criminal Investigation Division case item disposal press conference.

Mohd Rahimi explained that the pistol disposed of today was used in an armed robbery case and was classified as a tier-one firearm, along with air pistols and sharp weapons such as knives and machetes used in roadside robberies and other violent crimes. He added that the bitcoin machine was disposed of through manual destruction to ensure it could not be reused.

He further elaborated that liquor was disposed of using chemical liquid separation and evaporation methods, while bottles and cans were recycled. Cigarettes were completely destroyed by burning in a special incineration chamber. The disposal process was carried out by Jaya Motor Pollution Company in Port Klang, which is certified by the National Solid Waste Management Department and complies with the Solid Waste and Public Cleansing Management Act 2007.

Magistrate Haleez Hasnan witnessed the process as part of compliance with legal procedures.
