Kuala Lumpur: The transmission system at the Menara Kuala Lumpur (KL Tower) remains functional despite ongoing maintenance efforts and safety-related concerns, as confirmed by Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil. Fahmi, serving as the MADANI Government’s spokesperson, assured that the Ministry of Communications is actively monitoring the situation.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fahmi expressed confidence that the maintenance work would soon conclude, allowing the tower to reopen. He emphasized that the ministry prioritizes safety above all else, ensuring the well-being and comfort of visitors. Fahmi acknowledged the tower’s significance as a key structure in a sensitive area, noting that the transmission tower continues to operate without issues.
Fahmi also addressed public concerns, stating that efforts are underway to rectify previously identified issues and ensure prompt maintenance for the safety and comfort of visitors. He conveyed hope that the KL Tower would reopen shortly.
On April 17, Fahmi announced that the tower’s reopening is contingent upon resolving maintenance and safety concerns by the new concessionaire, LSH Service Master Sdn Bhd (LSHSM). The Communications Ministry had earlier declared that as of April 1, the operations, management, and maintenance of KL Tower are under the purview of LSHSM.
The previous concessionaire, Menara Kuala Lumpur Sdn Bhd (MKLSB), has been deemed unlawfully occupying the KL Tower site post-March 31. Consequently, two eviction notices were issued by the Federal Land Commissioner to MKLSB on April 3 and April 9.
