Kuala lumpur: The Kuala Lumpur Tower (Menara KL) will be illuminated in blue on May 18 in conjunction with International Museum Day 2026, which is observed worldwide.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Ministry of National Unity (KPN), in a statement today, said the initiative would be implemented in collaboration with LSH Service Master Sdn Bhd, the operator of Menara KL. This year's International Museum Day is celebrated under the theme 'Museums Uniting a Divided World'.
The theme highlights the role of museums as a medium in fostering understanding, strengthening unity, and bridging cultural and social divides in an increasingly challenging global society. The ministry said the blue lighting symbolises support for efforts to empower museums as institutions of knowledge, heritage, and education.
The statement noted that, in line with the aspirations of Malaysia MADANI, KPN is committed to continuing efforts to strengthen the country's heritage and museology sector so that it remains relevant, inclusive, and close to the younger generation through educational, technological, and community engagement approaches.
Members of the public are invited to celebrate International Museum Day 2026 by visiting museums nationwide and participating in various educational, cultural, and heritage programmes.
