KL Tower to Close Temporarily for Maintenance and Management Transition

Kuala Lumpur: The Kuala Lumpur Tower will be temporarily closed starting Thursday, April 17, to ensure the safety and comfort of visitors, while the new management undertakes necessary maintenance and improvement work.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Ministry of Communications has announced that the reopening date for the tower, which stands as one of the tallest telecommunications structures globally, will be communicated through multiple media channels. The Ministry emphasized that the Kuala Lumpur Tower remains under government ownership.

The Ministry further revealed that, effective April 1, 2025, LSH Service Master Sdn Bhd (LSHSM) has assumed responsibility for the tower’s operations, management, and maintenance. The statement highlighted that Menara Kuala Lumpur Sdn Bhd (MKLSB) is no longer authorized to occupy the KL Tower premises beyond March 31, 2025.

It was reported that the Federal Lands Commissioner has issued two eviction notices to MKLSB, dated April 3 and April 9, 2025, to ensure compliance with the new management arrangement. Any ongoing operations or transactions by MKLSB are now considered unauthorized by the government.

On March 31, the Ministry of Communications addressed concerns through a set of frequently asked questions regarding the management concession of KL Tower. They reassured that the transition to LSHSM as the new concessionaire would not disrupt the tower’s operations or affect its staff. Discussions have been conducted to ensure that the terms of the takeover allow for continued smooth operations.
