King’s Health Has Significantly Improved After Treatment – PM Anwar

Kuala Lumpur: The health condition of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, has significantly improved after receiving conservative treatment, according to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Anwar revealed that he had the opportunity to meet with the King twice during his official visit to Bahrain.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar expressed his gratitude that the early conservative treatment appeared effective, although the King’s condition still requires monitoring. He noted that His Majesty’s health had significantly improved, and before proceeding with further treatment, the King has decided to return home. Anwar mentioned that the King is expected to return to Malaysia the following day, with ongoing treatment to continue if necessary.

A post on the Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar Facebook page indicated that Anwar briefed His Majesty on the latest developments in Malaysia and inquired about his health. Meanwhile, a day prior, Istana Negara announced that Sultan Ibrahim had undergone successful conservative treatment abroad for musculoskeletal pain and was expected to return to Malaysia on February 21. The condition was attributed to the King’s intensive military training and active lifestyle in his youth, particularly his passion for polo.

On February 7, Istana Negara issued a statement confirming that His Majesty had traveled abroad for treatment. Addressing questions about Malaysia’s new Ambassador to the United States, Anwar stated that the matter had been presented to His Majesty and would be announced once confirmed. The government had selected a candidate to replace Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz, whose two-year term as Ambassador ended. Mohamed Nazri assumed the role on February 9, 2023, with his appointment based on his extensive experience in government administration.
