Kuala lumpur: Former Harimau Malaya coach Datuk Ong Kim Swee was announced as the director of the National Football Development Programme (NFDP) effective December 1. Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) acting president, Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mahadi, stated that his party believes that Kim Swee's experience can drive the NFDP.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohd Yusoff emphasized the trust they have in Kim Swee and the technical team to assess each officer and coach based on the wisdom and needs of the programme. He highlighted the importance of decisions that propel the programme forward, ensuring that every coach and officer contributes positively and effectively.
During a press conference following the Special Exco Meeting at Wisma FAM, Mohd Yusoff addressed questions about the key performance indicators (KPIs) set for Kim Swee. He noted that the former Sabah FC coach is expected to demonstrate improved achievements compared to his predecessor.
Mohd Yusoff further explained that development programmes typically require a period of at least two years to yield results, and annual evaluations of KPIs will be conducted. He stressed the importance of setting higher KPIs than before, as the goal is not merely to appoint new individuals but to ensure each person delivers better results or makes a positive impact on the programme.
