KiddeFenwal To Showcase BESS Fire Protection Solutions At Interschutz, NFPA Events

Hanover: KiddeFenwal will showcase its fire protection technologies for battery energy storage systems (BESS) at the upcoming Interschutz and NFPA Conference and Expo as demand grows for safety solutions supporting the global energy transition. The global leader in fire protection and safety controls said the technologies are designed to address fire hazards linked to lithium-ion batteries used in BESS applications, including thermal runaway risks that can lead to large-scale fires.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, KiddeFenwal innovations instantly detect and suppress fires that may lead to thermal runaway, ensuring BESS' safe operations and bringing the world closer to a reliable clean energy future. In a statement, KiddeFenwal chief executive officer, Rekha Agrawal, said the company was focused on advancing fire prevention and suppression systems to support the safe deployment of energy storage infrastructure globally.

KiddeFenwal will demonstrate a multi-layered fire protection approach combining gas and smoke detection, fire alarm and suppression controls, clean-agent suppression systems, and inert gas technology aimed at detecting and suppressing fires at an early stage. The solutions include the REL-iON sensor platform, AEGIS-PHX and ARIES-SLX fire alarm and suppression control units, Fluoro-K clean agent technology, and NATURA IG-100 inert gas systems.

According to the company, research conducted at the University of Maryland and controlled fire tests completed in December 2025 showed the combined systems could improve early fire detection and suppression in BESS environments while helping prevent fire propagation and re-ignition. The technologies will be showcased at Interschutz in Hanover, Germany, from June 1 to 6, and at the NFPA Conference and Expo in Las Vegas from June 22 to 24.
