Kuala Lampur:The Human Resources Ministry (KESUMA) is actively monitoring the ongoing developments and public discourse surrounding the 20th Collective Agreement and the issue of Festive Assistance involving the Malayan Commercial Banks Association (MCBA) and the National Union of Bank Employees (NUBE). The focus remains on matters related to workers' welfare and maintaining industrial harmony.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, KESUMA emphasized its respect for the rule of law and urged all parties involved to allow the judicial process to proceed without interference. The ministry advised against speculation or comments that might lead to confusion regarding the case.
KESUMA reiterated its commitment to a tripartite approach, engaging the government, employers, and trade unions, as a fundamental method for maintaining industrial harmony. The Department of Industrial Relations Malaysia (JPPM) will continue to facilitate open and constructive negotiations between the parties involved.
The dispute has escalated to the Court of Appeal and is set for a hearing on March 22, 2027. KESUMA affirmed its role in ensuring balanced consideration of the interests of both workers and employers. The ministry remains focused on achieving a resolution that upholds workers' welfare, respects employers' interests, and maintains industrial peace.
The ministry also pledged to carry out its responsibilities professionally, fairly, and impartially to foster strong relations among workers, trade unions, and employers. The central issues in the dispute involve the payment of festive assistance and the terms of the 20th Collective Agreement between MCBA and NUBE.
