KOTA BHARU, Sultan of Kelantan Sultan Muhammad V today participated in the sacrificial slaughter of two cows in conjunction with the Korban Jama’ie programme organised by the Kelantan Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIK).

The programme was held at the field of Kompleks Islam Jubli Perak, Sultan Ismail Petra, in Panji here.

His Royal Highness was accompanied by Tengku Mahkota of Kelantan Tengku Muhammad Fakhry Petra and Tengku Temenggong of Kelantan Tengku Tan Sri Mohamad Rizam Tengku Abdul Aziz, who is also MAIK president.

Meanwhile, MAIK deputy president Dr Hasnan Ramli said a total of 53 cows were slaughtered today and the meat would be distributed to 2,000 hardcore poor through state, town and district mosques.

He said Sultan Muhammad also donated seven cows for the sacrificial ritual.

‘…of the 53 cows, they were also donated by the royal family, government agencies and the public,” he told reporters at the event.

Also present were Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Nassurruddin Mohd Daud and sta
te police chief Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun.
