Kota bharu: The Kelantan Sports Council has partnered with Yayasan Kelantan Darulnaim (YAKIN) to facilitate educational loans and scholarships for athletes aspiring to continue their studies at public universities. State Youth, Sports, NGOs, and Community Unity Committee chairman Zamakhshari Muhamad announced this initiative as a part of the state government's commitment to extending athletes' development beyond sports to include education.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the initiative aims to ensure that education remains a primary focus alongside sports development in the state. Athletes demonstrating potential will be supported in pursuing higher education at public institutions. Additionally, those achieving commendable results in Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) examinations will receive incentives for academic excellence.

Zamakhshari highlighted that the state government, through the Kelantan Sports Council, offers a range of benefits to athletes under the Special Programme. These benefits include monthly allowances for participants in the Imtiyaz programme, financial aid for participating in both domestic and international competitions, as well as provision of sports equipment and nutritional supplements.

The initiative not only aims to fulfill athletes' training requirements and boost their performance but also provides them with the necessary support to excel academically. Furthermore, support is available for athletes in situations such as natural disasters, accidents, marriage, and bereavement, ensuring their welfare is prioritized.

Zamakhshari noted that the strategic partners of these initiatives include the National Sports Council, state education and youth, and sports departments, along with public and private higher education institutions. He expressed optimism that these facilities would motivate Kelantan athletes to achieve excellence in sports, education, and personal growth.
