Kuala Lumpur: The Kelantan Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) conducted a prompt medical evacuation operation (Medevac) to aid a boy experiencing an asthma attack on Perhentian Island, Terengganu.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Kelantan Maritime Director, Maritime Captain Erwan Shah Soahdi, reported that the operation was initiated following an emergency call from health workers at the Perhentian Island Health Clinic, Terengganu, received at 12.15 pm. A patrol boat was dispatched to the island, successfully transporting the nine-year-old patient to the Kuala Besut Passenger Jetty in under an hour. The boy was subsequently taken by ambulance to the Besut Hospital for urgent medical care.
Captain Erwan emphasized the necessity of immediate action due to the boy’s deteriorating condition, which required urgent hospital treatment. He confirmed that the Medevac operation concluded by 3 pm without any incidents. He also advised the public to be vigilant regarding their health conditions and to promptly contact authorities during emergencies.
