Kota bharu: Kelantan The Real Warriors (TRW) midfielder Faris Izdiham intends to take advantage of the three-week Super League break to work on rectifying his – and the team’s – weaknesses and boost their confidence ahead of their crucial away tie against Selangor on Nov 22. The 24-year-old said their two consecutive defeats in the Super League and the FA Cup recently had given them plenty to think about for the rest of the season.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Kelantan lost 2-1 to Kuala Lumpur City on Nov 1 in the Super League and 3-1 to Sabah (5-2 on aggregate) in the return leg of the FA Cup quarter-finals on Oct 29. Faris expressed that the previous defeats serve as a measure for him to assess his weaknesses and improve his role as a playmaker. He acknowledged the significant responsibility he carries as a midfielder to initiate plays and create goal-scoring opportunities for his teammates.
Faris mentioned that, alongside the guidance from coaches, he is also learning from experienced players and imports to enhance his midfield role, focusing on setting up chances and disrupting opponent plays. He emphasized the importance of the break for reviewing team performance, addressing individual weaknesses, and strengthening teamwork and understanding in their pursuit of victories.
He conveyed confidence that with ongoing efforts and determination, the team can regain form and be better prepared. Faris also expressed hope for continued support from fans to help place Kelantan TRW in the best possible position in this season’s Malaysia League (M-League), including the Super League. He believes that the presence of supporters at the stadium will significantly boost the team’s morale and spirit.
Currently, Kelantan is placed seventh in the 13-team Super League standings with 11 points from nine matches, while Selangor holds the fifth spot with 13 points after eight outings.
