Gua Musang:Kelantan: The Education Department is ready to relocate Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination candidates to safer schools in the event of early floods this year due to unpredictable weather conditions.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Kelantan JPN director Siti Norina Muhamad highlighted that the recent flash floods in Gua Musang have prompted the department to consider preventive measures to ensure that candidates can sit for their examinations without disruptions.

Each year, the department makes early preparations for SPM candidates to avoid difficulties caused by flooding. In the past, candidates have been relocated to schools at lower risk, such as Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Agama (SMKA) Falahiah and SMKA Lati. Siti Norina emphasized that similar measures will be taken this year if necessary, especially for candidates in high-risk flood areas.

She assured that the department is prepared to act swiftly, based on the current situation, to prevent students from being stranded by impassable roads.

In addition to flood preparedness, Siti Norina stated that the Kelantan JPN is actively working to address drug abuse among students. This includes cooperation with the police to identify students showing early signs of substance abuse, as urged by Kelantan police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat. She stressed the importance of involving all parties in tackling this issue, rather than leaving the responsibility solely to schools.
