KDN To Mobilise Relevant Agencies To Combat Forgery, Misuse Of MyKad

Kulim: The Home Ministry (KDN) will mobilise all relevant agencies and utilise existing legal provisions to combat the forgery and misuse of MyKad among foreign workers in Malaysia. Its minister, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, said the ministry is taking the matter seriously, particularly with the government implementing targeted subsidies to prevent benefits from being exploited by foreigners.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, cases involving fake MyKads and the possession of other people's MyKads by foreign workers have been acknowledged, following a recent raid at an electronics factory in Selangor. This raid was conducted by the National Registration Department in collaboration with the Malaysian Immigration Department and the Manpower Department.

When asked about the investigation of the case, Saifuddin Nasution stated that it has been established that the foreign workers used forged documents, with some purchasing the documents for RM300. He emphasized the focus of the investigation is to use all legal provisions while coordinating with all relevant agencies.

Saifuddin Nasution added that the probe will also scrutinise the support system surrounding foreign workers, including agents and employers, to ensure that every foreign worker in the country possesses valid documentation. He highlighted that the National Registration Department maintains an accurate and reliable database, making it straightforward to detect counterfeit MyKads.

He stressed that using fake MyKads is unacceptable and will not escape the system, urging individuals to cease such practices. Earlier, Saifuddin Nasution, who is also the Joint Chairman of the Kedah State Development Action Council, handed over an indenture to implement the People-Friendly Project worth RM2.3 million in the Kulim and Bandar Baharu districts to 35 contractors. The project involves the repair of 10 houses in Kulim and three in Bandar Baharu, along with 17 infrastructure maintenance projects in Kulim and five in Bandar Baharu.
