KDN Heeds PM’s Directive To Shelve Procurement Decisions

Padang serai: The Home Ministry (KDN) has welcomed Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's instruction to temporarily shelve procurement decisions by the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) linked to corruption issues. Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail stated that he would consult with the ministry's secretary-general, Datuk Dr Awang Alik Jeman, to determine appropriate actions in line with the Prime Minister's directive.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Prime Minister emphasized the need to review the procurement processes. Saifuddin expressed KDN's support for this initiative, noting that it aligns with the ministry's objectives. He shared this perspective while addressing reporters after the inauguration of the Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail People's Service Centre in Padang Serai.

The directive from the Prime Minister is seen as a reset of procurement decisions at KDN, which is among the ministries receiving substantial annual allocations for management and development purposes. The Prime Minister's order specifies that all MAF and PDRM procurement decisions linked to corruption are to be temporarily shelved until full compliance with procurement procedures is assured.

The government, through the relevant ministries, plans to review and restructure procurement processes to ensure transparency in the existing system. This move is part of a broader effort to enhance accountability and integrity within governmental operations.
