Kuala lumpur: The Youth and Sports Ministry (KBS) has reaffirmed its commitment to coordinate closely with the Home Ministry (KDN) on measures related to the document falsification involving seven national football heritage players, after studying the FIFA Appeal Committee’s full written reasoning.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, KBS Minister Hannah Yeoh stated that the ministry is closely monitoring the case, emphasizing that KDN plays a key role as criminal matters fall under its authority. This development follows the FIFA Appeal Committee’s request for authorities in five countries to investigate the issue.
Hannah Yeoh mentioned that the matter is under the jurisdiction of KDN, and the ministry has deferred to them for further action. She has reached out to the Minister of Home Affairs, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution, but is yet to receive a response. Yeoh is also reviewing FIFA’s motivated decision, expressing her understanding that the Home Ministry requires time to study the case and voicing her confidence that a reply will be forthcoming.
Yesterday, the FIFA Appeal Committee released a 63-page motivated decision instructing its secretariat to notify authorities in Brazil, Argentina, the Netherlands, Spain, and Malaysia. The aim is to determine if criminal proceedings should be initiated, as falsification is considered a criminal offense in these countries. The committee has urged authorities to investigate and pursue legal action where necessary.
Hannah Yeoh further explained that KBS plans to address questions involving the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) and FIFA in Parliament. She indicated that KBS will provide a statement during the 2026 ministry budget debate, where all related matters will be discussed comprehensively.
