Johor bahru: The Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) investment blueprint and master plan will be launched on March 30 in Johor Bahru. Economy Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir announced the decision after discussions with his Singaporean counterpart and Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the launch will take place in Johor Bahru to ensure that the local population can directly experience the impact. Akmal Nasrullah highlighted that the blueprint outlines the incentives, opportunities, and operational framework of the JS-SEZ.
Akmal Nasrullah emphasized that the initiative is not only about attracting investment but also about enhancing productivity and delivering significant outcomes for the people and the economy. He stated that the JS-SEZ aims to achieve a gross domestic product (GDP) of RM260 billion by 2030, which will significantly transform Johor's economic landscape.
The minister mentioned that the economic zone intends to transition to an advanced, innovation-driven river economy, with a goal of creating over 20,000 high-skilled jobs. He also stressed the importance of Malaysia moving from planning to execution in alignment with the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP).
He urged ministries, agencies, states, and stakeholders to work with discipline, speed, commitment, and accountability to achieve measurable outcomes.
