Kuala lumpur: The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has announced the suspension of its online service for changing vehicle ownership starting tomorrow, impacting all digital channels including the public portal, kiosks, and JPJ business partners MyEG and eAuto Sdn Bhd.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, JPJ director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli stated that the decision was prompted by multiple complaints on official and social media platforms concerning unauthorized changes in vehicle ownership without the registered owners' knowledge. He emphasized that JPJ is taking these issues seriously, particularly those affecting the maintenance and safety records of vehicles listed in the department's system.
As a result, from tomorrow onwards, all vehicle ownership change transactions for both individual and private company ownerships must be conducted at JPJ counters. Aedy Fadly explained that individual ownership transactions can be completed on the same day at state and branch JPJ offices. For private company ownership, the confirmation process and approval will require five to seven working days from the date of complete document submission.
In terms of services provided by eAuto, Aedy Fadly mentioned that only transactions under the Temporary Ownership Transfer System (STMS) will continue as normal. Meanwhile, the permanent ownership transfer system via the eSerahan Tukar Milik (eSTM) system is suspended. Used car companies and others wishing to conduct such transactions must now submit their applications at state or branch JPJ offices.
