JPJ Impounds 41 Luxury Cars in Kuala Lumpur Through ‘Ops Luxury’

Kuala lumpur: The Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur Road Transport Department (JPJ) has successfully impounded 41 luxury vehicles in an operation known as 'Ops Luxury,' conducted from January until mid-May this year. JPJ WPKL Director Hamidi Adam disclosed that the operation targeted owners of high-value vehicles who were violating road regulations.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, out of the 41 impounded vehicles, 11 remain in custody, while the other 30 cases have been resolved following enforcement actions against the vehicle owners. The primary offenses identified during 'Ops Luxury' included expired Motor Vehicle Licenses (LKM/road tax) and the absence of valid insurance coverage.

"Ops Luxury is continuously carried out to detect luxury vehicle owners who fail to comply with road regulations despite owning high-value vehicles," Hamidi stated during a JPJ WPKL press conference. He highlighted that some vehicles had unpaid road tax worth as much as RM10,000.

Hamidi further revealed that the operation detected vehicles such as a Bentley Continental Flying Spur, Rolls-Royce Ghost, Aston Martin V8 Vantage, Porsche Cayman, Mercedes-Benz AMG, BMW, Audi, Land Rover Defender, and a Ford Mustang. Checks indicated that some of these vehicles had road tax expired since 2018, and some owners had not renewed their insurance coverage.

He emphasized that JPJ will continue to enforce these regulations rigorously, ensuring compliance from all vehicle owners without compromise.
