Ipoh: The Jom Makan Ipoh Expo will be proposed for inclusion in Perak's tourism calendar following an encouraging response to its inaugural edition this year. Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming announced that the expo, organised by the Kepayang State Assembly Service Centre and several strategic partners, is anticipated to become a signature tourism brand aimed at attracting both local and international visitors.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the event has been hailed a success, with a significant turnout over its three-day duration. Minister Nga highlighted that the expo is expected to draw at least 20,000 visitors over the weekend and is intended to serve as a symbol of racial unity through food and sports. Speaking to reporters after officiating the expo, Nga, who also serves as the Kepayang assemblyman, introduced six Ipoh food maps featuring QR codes to help tourists locate food outlets and restaurants throughout the city.

The Jom Makan Ipoh Expo, which ran from August 28 to 30, from 5 pm to 11 pm at Palo 101, showcased over 50 food and agricultural product stalls. These included 12 Ipoh specialities, street food, and a variety of selected food and agricultural products. Among the dishes that highlight Ipoh's unique gastronomic identity are laksa buyong, Ipoh White Coffee, chicken rice with bean sprouts, soya pudding, and kacang putih.
