Johor bahru: The one-day special sitting of the Johor State Legislative Assembly, initially scheduled for June 22, has been cancelled after the assembly was dissolved by Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Johor State Assembly Speaker Datuk Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi confirmed the cancellation when contacted. He succinctly stated, "Cancelled," in response to inquiries regarding the assembly's status.

Notices for the June 22 sitting had been distributed to several Johor state assemblymen as of May 29. Among those who confirmed receipt of the notice were Bukit Kepong assemblyman Datuk Dr Sahruddin Jamal, Johor Jaya assemblyman Liow Cai Tung, and Sri Medan assemblyman Datuk Zulkurnain Kamisan.

On the previous day, Menteri Besar Onn Hafiz announced the dissolution of the state assembly, which necessitates a state election to be held within the next 60 days.
