Johor Barisan Nasional Convention Date May Be Advanced

Johor bahru: The Johor Barisan Nasional (BN) Convention, originally set for June 14, may see a rescheduling to an earlier date, as stated by its secretary Datuk Abdul Halim Suleiman. This consideration comes in light of recent political shifts in the state, particularly after the dissolution of the Johor State Legislative Assembly.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the dissolution was announced by Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, who had secured the consent of Regent of Johor Tunku Mahkota Ismail, effectively initiating the process for a state election. The decision to potentially advance the convention aims to adapt to these changes and ensure preparedness for the upcoming electoral contest.

Datuk Abdul Halim Suleiman mentioned that there is a possibility of changing the date to one earlier than June 14. The convention is intended to act as a crucial platform for reinforcing the coalition's unity and readiness, as well as optimizing the election machinery's preparations. The Johor BN, led by Onn Hafiz, plans to contest all 56 state seats in the forthcoming 16th Johor state election.
