Johor MCA Denies Viral Letter Listing Proposed Election Candidates

Johor bahru: Johor MCA has denied the authenticity of a letter containing a list of the party's proposed candidates for the Johor state election (PRN), which went viral on social media today. Johor MCA deputy chairman Ling Tian Soon stated that the party had never issued such a document, describing it as a fake letter believed to have been created by irresponsible parties.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ling Tian Soon emphasized, "As the deputy chairman of the Johor MCA liaison committee, I strongly deny the authenticity of the list. MCA has never issued such a letter, and it is believed to be the work of irresponsible individuals." He noted that it is common during election season for speculations and fake documents to circulate. Ling made these remarks at the 2026 Johor State-Level Nurses Day celebration at Sunway Big Box, officiated by Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.

In a related development, the MCA Youth chief mentioned that Johor MCA had identified its potential candidates early and submitted the proposed list to Barisan Nasional (BN) for further screening and consideration. He clarified that the proposed candidates were based on the 15 state seats contested by MCA in the previous election.

Earlier, a list of MCA candidates purportedly set to contest in the Johor state election gained traction on social media. The viral claim included an assertion that MCA president Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong would contest the Skudai state seat.
