Mersing: The Johor government has approved a substantial allocation of RM1.5 million to foster infrastructure, sports, healthcare, and public utility projects in Mersing as part of efforts to distribute the benefits of the state's economic growth to local communities. Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi emphasized the importance of replicating the development model successfully implemented in Johor Bahru to ensure that prosperity reaches every district, including Mersing.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Johor Economic Transformation Plan (JETP) is designed to not only bolster the state's economy but also enhance the livelihoods of its residents by creating more employment opportunities, particularly for young people. Onn Hafiz highlighted the necessity for the JETP to translate into tangible benefits for Mersing's 80,000 residents, including through increased job opportunities for the youth.

The allocation includes RM500,000 to upgrade facilities at the Mersing Hospital Haemodialysis Unit, RM200,000 to replace carpets at Kampung Sri Lalang Mosque, and RM200,000 to build and repair futsal courts in Taman Sri Mersing and Felda Nitar, respectively. An additional RM100,000 each is designated for solar-powered streetlights in the Orang Asli villages of Kampung Peta and Kampung Tanjung Tuan, as well as upgrading the Kami Anak Felda Malaysia (KAF) building in Felda Tenggaroh Timur.

Furthermore, RM80,000 has been allocated for constructing a sepak takraw court in Felda Tenggaroh 6. Onn Hafiz also announced strategic initiatives for the district, including a proposal to build a petrol station for the Special Forces Group (GGK) personnel at Camp Iskandar, to be coordinated by the local assemblyman and the Mersing District Officer. Plans to establish a Religious Affairs Office and a Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) campus in Mersing will also be pursued under the JETP.
