Johor bahru: The Johor state election campaign must be conducted maturely without personal attacks to ensure national stability is preserved, said UMNO deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan. He emphasized the importance of maintaining a cooperative relationship within the Unity Government at the Federal level while contesting parties present their policies and offers to the people.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohamad Hasan, who also serves as the Foreign Minister, urged political parties to focus on policy-oriented campaigns rather than personal attacks. He explained that while friendly teasing is acceptable, it is crucial to avoid personal attacks that could undermine the stability of the nation. During a luncheon with voters from the Tiram state constituency, he highlighted the importance of managing the country collaboratively, stating, "The business of managing the country is crucial. Do not let it ruin the nation."
Furthermore, Mohamad dismissed allegations suggesting that the Johor state election is connected to efforts to free former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak. He reiterated that Malaysia is governed by the rule of law and that UMNO respects this principle. He clarified that the Johor election is solely focused on forming a state government and has no bearing on the Federal Government or any pardons, which are the prerogative of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
Polling for the Johor state election is scheduled for July 11, with early voting set to commence tomorrow. In this election, 172 candidates are vying for 56 seats in the Johor State Legislative Assembly. For ongoing updates on the 16th Johor state election, visit https://prn.bernama.com/johor/.
