JKM and Related Agencies Mobilise to Assist Sarawak Flood Victims

Kuching: The Social Welfare Department (JKM) and related agencies in Sarawak have been mobilised immediately to ensure that basic needs and psychosocial support are channelled to all flood victims in the state. Minister of Women, Family and Community Development, Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, emphasized the importance of safety and compliance with the authorities’ instructions for all affected parties.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Nancy Shukri stated that those wishing to contribute can channel donations through JKM or recognised organisations. She reported that over 1,097 individuals have been evacuated to Temporary Evacuation Centres (PPS) across the districts of Kuching, Serian, Bintulu, Miri, Siburan, Tatau, Bau, and Simunjan.

Nancy expressed concern about the flood situation impacting the state, highlighting that the Serian district has the highest number of evacuees, with 374 people accommodated at six relief centres.
