JETRO To Boost Japanese Firms’ Access To Malaysia’s Halal Market

The japan external trade organisation (jetro) kuala lumpur office: will implement the Malaysia Halal Market Buyer Discovery and Business Matching Programme to enhance the visibility of Japanese companies and create business opportunities in Malaysia's halal market.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, JETRO stated that the programme would assist Japanese companies in entering the Muslim market by leveraging digital tools, as the halal market is expected to continue expanding in Southeast Asia.

The programme will be implemented through three measures, including the establishment of an Online Japan Pavilion on DagangHalal.com to connect Japanese companies with halal buyers across Southeast Asia.

It will also provide buyer discovery and business matching support for Japanese companies through digital technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI)-powered sales support tools.

'JETRO plans to launch a pilot project from September 2026 utilising AI-powered sales support tools specialised for export businesses to strengthen buyer acquisition and business matching opportunities,' it said.

The third measure involves buyer networking sessions to support the expansion of Japanese companies in the halal sector, with JETRO and DagangHalal.com organising sessions in Malaysia.

During the sessions, halal-certified products from participating companies will be showcased through a combination of online and offline platforms to facilitate business discussions and matching opportunities.
