Sandakan: Jalan Buli Sim-Sim from the temple towards Taman Grandview here has been temporarily closed from today till September 26 due to a 150-metre landslide in the Bukit Sim-Sim area yesterday. Sandakan district disaster management committee chairman Datuk Walter Kenson announced the precautionary measure to ensure public safety, even though the landslide did not directly affect the road.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Walter, who is also the Sandakan Municipal Council president, stated that the hiking trail in the hill area is closed following observations that the landslide site requires attention concerning safety. He emphasized the potential risk of soil movement, especially with continuous rain. The Public Works Department's Slope Branch will continuously monitor the slope's condition to detect any soil movement or structural changes.
