Long lellang: The family of late nurse Debra Moset, who was killed in a Flying Doctor Service (FDS) helicopter crash in Long Lellang, Ulu Baram, today received cash assistance under the National Welfare Foundation's (YKN) Assistance to Families/Victims of Disasters (PEKA YKN) programme.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri stated that the assistance was provided to support the victim's family as they cope with the difficult period. She emphasized the importance of presence and attention to ensure grieving families do not feel alone during such times.

Nancy, who also serves as the YKN Board of Trustees chairman, visited the late nurse's family at Kampung Semadang, Padawan, to deliver the RM3,000 cash assistance. She expressed that while the contribution cannot replace the life lost, it aims to alleviate the family's burden.

The late nurse's mother, Renog Rasas, was also provided with RM300 in cash under the Immediate Assistance Fund (TBS) and has been recommended for the Senior Citizen Assistance (BWE) of RM600 monthly starting from October. Additionally, under the state Social Welfare Department (JKM) initiative, her application for the Kenyalang Gold Card and Senior Citizen Health Benefit (SCHB) is under process for approval.

Debra Moset, aged 40, was among five people killed in the helicopter crash on September 8 while she was traveling to deliver healthcare services to remote communities in northern Sarawak.
